Bible Character Phoebe Search
Hebrew 11:13-15; 12:1-3
As we continue our character studies.. The Bible describes those who went before us as a great cloud of witnesses. The book of Hebrew only names a few, but we only actually have 6 weeks of research ahead of us. We will find that everyone that walked by faith did not make it in the final roll call list, just as all of us may not make it. We serve a God that is the same today, yesterday and forever more! Because of that, we should learn from their strength/weakness, serving, worshiping, and walking for God the same today, yesterday and forever more!
Phoebe
1. What was Phoebe relationship with Paul? Why did he need someone to deliver a letter for him? Does the bible describe Phoebe's relationship with Christ Jesus?
2. Phoebe is controversial; she presents a theological problem for those who want to argue that the church should ban all women from leadership. How would you define Phoebe leadership position in the early church?
3. How many times can you find Phoebe's name in the bible? Provide names of other women in leadership listed in Old or New Testament.
4. Can you find names of anyone else (male or female) that Paul recommended to the Church as he did for Phoebe.
5. What life lessons do we get from her lives?
